Bicycle sales skyrocket during 'stay at home' order

With the weather warming up, many people stuck at home are hopping on a bike for some fresh air and exercise.

Since the state's 'stay at home' order was put in place, business has skyrocketed at bicycle shops across Minnesota. 

Erik's Bike Shop in St. Paul says sales are up 50%.

Since the store is considered an essential business, it hasn't closed during the pandemic.

"As soon as the 'stay at home' order began, a lot of people have been coming in," store manager Garret Thiltgen said. "They want to go out biking for fun, to get the kids out of the house or just for exercise. We have people that haven't biked since high school. They are getting a new bike. They are getting the old one tuned up and they are getting out there with themselves or their family."

The store is following social distancing guidelines for employees and customers while it remains open.
