Police in St. Paul are investigating a crash Monday morning that they say left a man dead.
It happened just before 7:30 a.m., according to the police department. However, several squads were still at the scene nearly two hours later and the intersection was also taped off.
According to St. Paul police, a 69-year-old man died after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing at Maynard Drive. He was later identified as Bekele Yrnbab.
A pickup truck was seen with front-end damage. Police say the truck was headed east on Seventh Street when it hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road against a red light.
The driver stopped and is cooperating with investigators, the department added.
