Fridley man arrested after hitting juvenile bicyclist in Brooklyn Park

A man was arrested Wednesday evening after hitting a juvenile cyclist with their vehicle, according to Brooklyn Park police.

Officers responded to the crash around 5:33 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 81 and West Broadway.

The cyclist was brought to the hospital with “moderate injuries,” police initially said. On Thursday, police clarified the victim is in serious but stable condition.

Police identified the driver Thursday as 50-year-old Ahmed Hassan Aden of Fridley, saying he is being held on a charge of felony criminal vehicular operation.

Formal charges are pending, and the crash is still being investigated.

Several lanes of northbound County Road 81 were temporarily closed while authorities worked at the scene.
