An early morning crash involving a stolen vehicle in Minneapolis on Friday damaged an ambulance.

A spokesperson for the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) said officers were called to the intersection of Cedar Avenue South and Washington Avenue on a report of a hit-and-run involving two vehicles and an ambulance around 3 a.m.

Video captured by a 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS photographer showed the ambulance had damage on its front end.

A medic from the ambulance was minorly injured in the crash and brought to Hennepin County Medical Center, according to an MPD spokesperson.

A patient being transported in the ambulance at the time of the crash was uninjured from the incident.

MPD officials say a stolen blue Nissan Versa and a white Kia Telluride were chasing each other at a high rate of speed when the Kia crashed into the ambulance.

Both vehicles were found abandoned near 6th Street South and 19th Avenue South and towed to the Minneapolis Impound Lot. At the time of this publishing, MPD officials don’t know if the Kia was stolen.

No arrests have been made. MPD is investigating.
