WATCH: Walz expected to extend ‘stay at home’ order, modify business restrictions

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is expected to announce the next steps in the ‘stay at home order’ he issued to combat the spread of COVID-19.

The order, which Walz extended at the beginning of the month, is set to expire Monday.

Under the order, Minnesotans are able to leave their homes for health and safety activities, outdoor activities, gathering necessary supplies, essential travel, the care of others and relocation purposes.

KSTP Political Reporter Tom Hauser said the businesses should expect minimal change regarding restrictions and that the governor will extend the deadline Thursday afternoon.

Essential workers are exempt from the ‘stay at home’ order.

Last week, Walz issued an executive order that allowed non-critical businesses that are not customer-facing to return to work. The state estimated that would allow 80,000 to 100,000 Minnesotans to return to work.
