What’s closed, open on Labor Day
Labor Day weekend is upon Minnesotans and some places will be closed Monday, Sept. 5 for the holiday.
All city-owned meter parking in Minneapolis and St. Paul is free on Monday, although some parking spots owned by the University of Minnesota may differ.
Additionally, all banks, libraries, post offices, and government offices are closed on Labor Day. Metro Transit buses and light rail trains will run less frequently as they will operate on the holiday schedule.
Some grocery stores will be open for their regular hours on Monday, such as Cub Foods, Lunds & Byerly’s, Target, and Trader Joe’s.
Police and fire emergency services will not be affected by the holiday.
Liquor stores can legally be open on holidays.
