Deputy involved in Lakeville officer-involved shooting identified
Tuesday, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension identified the deputy who fired his weapon during an officer-involved shooting in Lakeville last week.
Sergeant Scott Durdall, a 22-year veteran of the Dakota County Sheriff's Office, was identified as the involved deputy. He is currently on standard administrative leave, the BCA said.
Dakota County deputies and Lakeville police officers were attempting to serve civil process paperwork and arrest 36-year-old Kent Richard Kruger on Friday at about 11:40 a.m. The BCA said Kruger was sought for an outstanding assault of an officer.

When officers entered his home, Kruger immediately began firing at them, the BCA said. Durdall then returned fire, striking Kruger.
Law enforcement and medical personnel attempted lifesaving measures but Kruger died at the scene.
According to the BCA, Lakeville officers wear body cameras, but Dakota County deputies don't. The BCA is working to determine if the Lakeville officers' body cameras captured the incident.
The investigation into the officer-involved shooting remains under investigation by the BCA.
