Scattered storms tonight, isolated severe possible

Good evening! Scattered severe storms are entering western far western Minnesota (as of 4:33 PM), as storms continue to develop and strengthen across central and southern Minnesota (as well as west-central Wisconsin). Strong to severe storms will be in place west and south of the metro early this evening, with the risk for strong to severe storms for the Twin Cities mainly after 7 PM and before 1 AM.

The main threat with any storms, will be damaging winds, followed by the risk for large hail. We aren’t looking at widespread rainfall, but those of us that see a storm or two will see the potential for localized heavy rainfall.

An Air Quality Alert is in place Friday morning through Saturday late afternoon across the state of Minnesota due to smoke from Canadian wildfires.
