Police identify woman found dead in Hopkins apartment, suspect still in custody

UPDATE 7/10/23 – Police have identified both the woman who was found dead in Hopkins this past weekend, as well as the man who is currently in custody for her death.
Early Monday afternoon, Hopkins Police identified the 33-year-old found dead at the Ramsgate Apartment complex as Danicka Marie Bergeson.
According to police, Bergeson knew the suspect, also identified Monday as 39-year-old Matthew Scott Brenneman.
An investigation is still underway regarding what led up to Bergeson’s death.
Formal charges are still pending.

INITIAL REPORT 7/8/23 – A homicide investigation is underway after a woman was found deceased in an apartment building, Hopkins Police Department announced.
Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at the Ramsgate Apartment complex around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
They found a 33-year-old woman deceased in the apartment and arrested a 39-year-old man, who also received medical treatment, police said.
The woman’s identity was not released by authorities.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no threat to the public, police said.
