A motorcycle crash in Minneapolis left one man dead and another man injured early Tuesday morning, according to the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD).

A KSTP-TV photographer saw police and first responders at the intersection of 26th Street East and Hiawatha Avenue around 1:45 a.m.

An MPD spokesperson said the two men were riding west on a motorcycle on 26th Street East when they went through a red light and hit a car at the intersection of Hiawatha Avenue.

A man in his 40s died at the scene. A man in his late 30s was transported to Hennepin Healthcare (HCMC) with unknown injuries.

Police didn’t specify which of the men was driving the motorcycle. However, they said the driver of the car was uninjured.

Minneapolis officers later determined the motorcycle was stolen, and a gun was also found at the scene.

The crash caused Hiawatha Avenue to be temporarily closed for several hours. It has since reopened.

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the incident.
