Wild trade draft picks for Johansson, Nyquist
Ahead of Friday’s NHL trade deadline, the Minnesota Wild acquired two left wingers.
Tuesday, the team traded a 2024 third-round draft pick to Washington for Marcus Johansson, then a 2023 fifth-round draft pick to Columbus for Gustav Nyquist.
Marcus Johansson
Johansson, 32, has tallied 28 points (13 goals, 15 assists) in 60 games this season, including 13 power-play points.
Across his 813 career games, Johansson has totaled 435 points (157 goals, 278 assists) in stints for Washington, New Jersey, Boston, Buffalo, Seattle and Minnesota.
He spent the 2020-21 season with the Wild and tallied 14 points (6 goals, 8 assists) in 36 games after coming over from Buffalo in the Eric Staal trade.
He’ll be an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Gustav Nyquist
Although he’s been out due to an injury since January, 33-year-old Nyquist has recorded 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) in 48 games this season.
After 700 NHL games with Detroit, San Jose and Columbus, Nyquist owns 423 points (174 goals, 249 assists).
