3 shot at funeral reception for Harding High School stabbing victim
Three teens were shot Friday evening at the funeral reception for Devin Scott, the 15-year-old who was fatally stabbed earlier this month at Harding High School, according to St. Paul police
Officers were called to the Wellstone Community Center on St. Paul’s West Side around 7:42 p.m. There, they found three teens who had been shot in their lower bodies. The victims were brought to Regions Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators believe a white sedan drove by the community center and somebody fired shots into the building. A 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS camera at the scene captured a number of bullet holes through the building’s glass entryway.
Shortly after the shooting, police said a white sedan was involved in a crash on the 400 block of Clinton Ave. Two males ran from the crash scene, but police didn’t find them. Police are investigating whether this vehicle was the one involved in the shooting.
Officers who responded to the shooting also arrested a 16-year-old who was running from the area. Police say he had a handgun that was outfitted with a switch and an extended magazine. Officers are investigating whether he was involved in the shooting.
