THC edibles packaged to look like name-brand candy found in Scott County drug bust

The Scott County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of THC edibles packaged to look like regular candy.

According to a news release, the Southwest Metro Drug Task Force and the Jordan Police Department found nearly 500 pieces of THC edibles and other controlled substances while conducting a search warrant last month in Jordan.

The edibles were packaged to look almost identical to Nerds Rope candy. However, the label reads "Medicated Nerds Rope."

Law enforcement is telling parents, teachers and children to stay vigilant in case of coming across similar products, which the Scott County Sheriff's Office said are "disguised with fruit or candy flavors to target children."

“I want to use this incident as an opportunity for productive, solution-minded dialogue within our community,” Scott County Sheriff Luke Hennen said in a statement. “We need to focus on educating parents, teachers, and children to the dangers of the potency of these products and the long-term health risks associated with potential addiction."
