The Jacob Wetterling Resource Center (JWRC) now has national reach to assist even more sex abuse victims and families with missing children.
Patty and Jerry Wetterling welcomed longtime supporters on Wednesday. The agency they created has moved under the umbrella of the Zero Abuse Project in St. Paul.
The project is the idea of attorney Jeff Anderson, who has represented sex abuse victims from all over the country.
Merger means Jacob Wetterling Resource Center will expand national footprint
KSTP was recently invited to the Wetterling's home in St. Joseph to discuss the partnership.
"I love the support. I love the theme, zero abuse, that's what you want," Patty said. "Let's just stop this from happening. Who would ever harm a child, sexually harm a child? It was out of my realm of consciousness back then. And now with additional knowledge and coverage of all this? I would think we could do a better job of just stopping it from happening."
Patty and Jerry say they are excited because the JWRC now has more resources to keep kids safe and to help families with the heartache of a missing child.
