Maret Bylander of Stillwater sashed as 2023 Klondike Kate

Congratulations are in order for this year’s Klondike Kate.
Maret Bylander was sashed Wednesday night as part of the St. Paul Winter Carnival tradition.
The Stillwater native has been performing on stage since she was 3 years old. She entered the competition because of her admiration of the real Klondike Kate for her goal to put a smile on everyone’s faces.
“My guiding mission is to let all women know that Kate is all-encompassing — all races, all ages,” Bylander said. “… Klondike Kate is all women, and that anyone can aspire to be a Kate. Anybody.”
