St. Paul surpasses last year’s record homicide numbers with fatal overnight shooting

No one has been arrested after a fatal overnight shooting in St. Paul’s Payne-Phalen neighborhood, according to St. Paul police.
The shooting is St. Paul’s 39th homicide of the year, breaking the capital city’s record of 38 homicides in 2021.

Following a 911 call about a shooting around 9:45 p.m. Monday, responders went to a home on the 600 block of Cook Avenue East and found a woman dead at the scene with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 40-year-old Lashonda Nix of St. Paul.
At this time, no one has been arrested, and investigators are looking for any information surrounding the case.
