Minnesota-based Cargill announced a position shift within its top leadership staff Monday.
The company has chosen sitting COO, former CFO and 31-year employee Brian Sikes to be its next CEO, effective Jan. 1.
“Brian has the qualities we value in a strong leader — integrity, empathy, resilience and authenticity,” said current CEO Dave MacLennan. “Under his leadership, I am confident the best days for Cargill, and its greatest contributions, lie ahead.”
MacLennan, who has held the CEO role since 2013, will now lead the company’s Board of Directors.
“Together, we will grow with customers, strengthen our core and thoughtfully target new markets to ensure we are a reliable, sustainable partner for our customers – today and in the future,” Sikes said as he congratulated MacLennan on the executive chair appointment.
The company says MacLennan will serve as a strategic advisor to Sikes and ensure a smooth leadership transition.
