Vikings reportedly agree to 2-year extension with Cousins, 3-year extension with Ham

As the window allowing NFL teams and free agent players to legally negotiate opened Monday morning, the Minnesota Vikings reportedly extended its starting quarterback and fullback.

Mike McCartney, Kirk Cousins’ agent, tweeted that Cousins and the Vikings had agreed to a two-year extension.

Cousins was set to enter the final year of his three-year contract with the Vikings this upcoming season.

According to Pro Football Talk, the deal creates $10M in 2020 cap space for the Vikings. NFL Network reported the deal guarantees Cousins $61 million.

The Vikings also reportedly re-signed fullback C.J. Ham, according to a tweet from his agent Black Baratz.

Ham, a restricted free agent, reportedly signed a three-year extension that will pay him about $4 million in 2020, sources told KSTP Sports.

KSTP Sports also confirmed the Vikings used its franchise tag on safety Anthony Harris Monday.

The team’s busy day continued as ESPN Reporter Adam Schefter reported Monday afternoon that the team had agreed to a 3-year, $9 million extension with punter Britton Colquitt that includes $5 million guaranteed.

The Vikings and other teams will officially be able to sign free agents when the new league year begins Wednesday afternoon.
