Everything is pretty expensive right now. Lauren Andrego, one of the producers from Minnesota Live, shares some apps that she found that can help you cut costs and monitor your spending.

Truebill & Trim

  • Free to download for Apple and Android devices
(OWNED BY ROCKET MORTGAGE — WILL CHANGE IT’S NAME TO “ROCKET MONEY” THIS MONTH)
  • Truebill has several features that can help save you money: Subscription management, Bill negotiation, Autopilot savings
  • The app will identify your monthly/periodic subscriptions, so you can cut what you don’t use
  • Truebill has negotiators that will work to lower bills (think cable, internet, telephone, even MEDICAL bills) — they’ll wait on hold for you
  • With “autopilot savings,” Truebill will analyze your spending and suggest the best times and amounts to save
    – The app takes 40% of the annual savings it finds for you. So if it doesn’t find anything, you pay nothing.
-Website TRIM offers similar services and takes a portion of the annual savings it finds for you.
-IT DOES NOT COST MONEY TO FIND OUT HOW MUCH YOU CAN SAVE

Manage Subscriptions on Apple and Android

  • Go into “Settings to find your Apple/Android subscriptions
  • Open Google Pay app
  • At the top right, tap the profile icon
  • Tap Payments & Subscriptions
  • From there you can instantly cancel or pause subscriptions

Gas Buddy

  • Free for Apple and Android devices
  • We reference this website often on the news. Gas Buddy will find the cheapest gas in your area, no matter where you are.
  • You can search for cheap prices in your current location — or any city by searching.
  • If you drive a LOT, consider a free GasBuddy gas card. You can save up to 25 per gallon every time you use it thru reimbursement. The app will tell you where you can save.

Honey

  • This is a “browser extension.” You can install it to Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Opera in about 15 seconds.
  • When you shop, Honey is simultaneously looking for deals for you.
  • It scours the internet for coupon codes and other deals being used that day by customers.
  • It will automatically apply savings.
  • If you use it enough, Honey will send you gift cards in the mail!
