Gophers football coach P.J. Fleck met with reporters Monday on campus. The Gophers have a 3-game losing streak after starting the season 4-0, including a convincing win at Michigan State.

“We’ve had three bad weeks of coaching, three bad weeks of playing, and we just haven’t executed at a really high level,” Fleck said. “And that’s part of the opponent and that’s part of our deficiencies. We’ve got to keep finding ways to be able to make that all fit.”
Fleck said he anticipates having WR Dylan Wright back this week. Wright was suspended for Saturday’s loss at Penn State.
Even with the losing streak and Big Ten West title hopes growing slimmer by the week, Fleck sees reasons for optimism.
“Matt Campbell from Iowa State had a great quote: He said winners do lose. It happens all the time in baseball, happens all the time the basketball, shoot, it happens in football, winners do lose but winners don’t hide, and losers hide. And I think that that’s what’s so encouraging about this team,” Fleck said.
“They just keep coming back for more and they want to get better. They want to improve. They’re not happy with where they are, but they know that it’s been self inflicted, and we played some really good teams. And we’ve got to be better.”
