In honor of the Vikings big game on Sunday in London, Dan Stoltz from SPIRE Credit Union gives us some financial tips with a football theme!

Call an Audible – Play Offense. In football and in life – the plays may change last minute. Don’t be afraid to shift your money map direction when needed. With increased interest rates, maybe you need to save a little more money for a down payment to keep your payment on budget. Bottom line, be in control and prioritize your spending to make sure you plan for what you need now.

Blitz – Defense. You often hear, the best offense is a good defense. Also true with finances! Especially right now with the economy and increasing high loan rates and inflation. Look for savings in all your relationships. Get quotes on insurance – home and auto. You may save money – or be reassured you have the best rates. Are you getting the best rate and rewards offering on your primary credit card? Do you have subscriptions you are not using? Including streaming services. It’s easy to leave things as is, but you could be leaving money on the table.

Touchdown – When you map your money, you will score. By keeping track of what is going in and what is going out and shift when you need to, you will come out on top. Usually, one touchdown does not win the game. You need to make several small steps – sometimes you even fumble. What is most important – is to keep working on your financial goals!
