Hennepin Co. disputes NFL announcement, says U.S. Bank Stadium won’t be a 2022 voting site

UPDATE 10/10/22 – Hennepin County officials say although the NFL announced that U.S. Bank Stadium would be a voting site during the 2022 election this past weekend, that isn’t the case.

Monday, Carolyn Marinan, the Chief Public Relations Officer for Hennepin County, disputed the NFL’s Saturday announcement.

Marinan said the same issue “apparently happened in the 2020 election as well.”

A news release sent by the NFL in August said as part of the NFL Votes initiative, all 30 NFL stadium are available to be used for election-related activities, if they were needed by local election officials. The release went on to say stadiums served as early voting, drop-off and Election Day polling sites during the 2020 election.
