Man found guilty of attempted murder in shooting of officer, 2 others in Albert Lea

An Albert Lea man has been found guilty of attempted murder following a 2020 shooting at an apartment complex.
Devin Matthew Weiland, 22, was convicted of three counts of first-degree attempted murder and three counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon on Monday, KAAL-TV reports.

Weiland was charged with shooting a police officer and two other people at Shady Oaks Apartments in November 2020.
His attorney argued that Weiland hadn’t tried to kill anyone during the incident. However, a jury convicted him of all charges.
Weiland’s sentencing is set for Dec. 19.
