H.S. Football: #2 Eden Prairie beats #1 Lakeville South in Class 6A showdown

Eden Prairie toppled Lakeville South 21-6 in a battle of the two top-ranked teams in Class 6A Friday night at Eden Prairie High School.

Eden Prairie, ranked #2 heading into the evening, opened the scoring in the first quarter on a three-yard touchdown run from DomInic Heim. The two-point conversion made it 8-0 Eagles.

An 85-yard touchdown pass from Nick Fazi to Michael Gross made it 14-0 Eden Prairie in the second quarter.

Lakeville South, ranked #1 and the defending Class 6A state champions, got on the board later in the 2nd quarter when Jacob Royse hooked up with Jay Winters on a 30-yard score. Eden Prairie’s lead was cut to 14-6 at halftime.

The Eagles added some insurance when Tyler Walden scored from one yard out in the 3rd quarter to give Eden Prairie a 21-6 lead.

The loss snaps a 22-game regular season winning streak for Lakeville South.
