Brotherly Love: Garrett and Crawley-Reid enjoying success at Concordia-St. Paul

Concordia-St. Paul junior pass rusher Chris Garrett and freshman running back Darios Crawley-Reid are reunited, and thriving so far this season. Lots of love, passion, and commitment from many have helped the brothers be in this position.

KSTP’s Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson talked to the brothers before a recent practice, and soon discovered how happy and grateful they are to be teammates. The brothers grew up in Milwaukee, in-and-out of shelters and unstable environments. Their grandma was involved in raising the boys after hurdles with their biological parents, and in high school, Crawley-Reid was adopted by a friend’s parents.

As for on-the-field, Garrett was the Division II National Player of the Week two weeks ago after a five sack performance in a win over MSU-Moorhead. Last year Garrett led D-II in sacks with 16.5. He received D-1 interest while in high school, but couldn’t qualify academically.

Crawley-Reid is coming off his best game of the season (and college career). He had 73 yards on eight carries, and scored his team-leading fifth touchdown.

Concordia-St. Paul (4-3) hosts Bemidji State on Saturday at noon.
