2 taken to hospital after Newport apartment fire
A fire at an apartment building in Newport sent two people to the hospital early Saturday morning.
One person was brought to the hospital after sustaining a minor ankle injury and another was taken to the hospital after jumping out of the second-floor window, according to the Newport fire chief.
The Newport Fire Department reported in a Facebook post that the fire broke out in an apartment in the 1600 block of 10th Avenue.
The post explained that the fire was contained to the apartment of origin and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
