Man shot, another arrested in St. Paul following accidental discharge, police say

One man was arrested and another was brought to the hospital after a shooting that police believe was accidental.

St. Paul police say they responded to the 1000 block of Bush Avenue at about 1:50 p.m. for a report of one man who was shot in the chest.

The shooting victim, a 19-year-old man, was hospitalized for a non-life-threatening injury and is in stable condition.

Officers say preliminary information shows that the two were handling a handgun on the front porch of a residence when it was accidentally fired, striking the 19-year-old in the chest.

The 20-year-old was arrested, and potential charges are pending.
