Twins option Smeltzer, recall Moran

The Twins have swapped out lefty relievers ahead of the series against Boston.
Monday, Minnesota optioned pitcher Devin Smeltzer to Triple-A St. Paul and recalled pitcher Jovani Moran.
This will be Moran’s fourth stint with the Twins this season. In his past three, he’s appeared in 20 games, totaling a 1.93 ERA with 15 walks and 31 strikeouts across 23.1 innings.
Smeltzer was recalled by the Twins on Aug. 20 and threw 7.2 innings while giving up just one earned run in three appearances.
Minnesota opens a new series against the Red Sox Monday night.
