Minnesota FFA hopes to raise interest in agricultural industry at State Fair with newborn animals

It would not be the Minnesota State Fair without a visit to the many different barns, especially the Miracle of Birth Center filled with cute baby animals.

This exhibit allows all Minnesotans to see an essential part of the agricultural industry.

Less than 2% of the country is involved in the agricultural industry. This lack of involvement causes farms to dwindle, dairy operations to close and the cost of food to go up. The Minnesota Future Farmers of America has a goal to get the public interested in agriculture.

There are 190 baby animals expected to be born at the fair this year. Farmers explain that it is critical for Minnesotans to see these miracles up close to understand where their food comes from and how the animals are raised.

Minnesota FFA National Officer Candidate Kyle Thomas told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, “We are really looking for in FFA, and across a lot of organizations, to find new ways to bring more people into the agricultural industry to meet the needs for the future.”

FFA members say if these fluffy, tiny faces are enough to get you interested in the world of agriculture, speak up and ask questions while you’re at the fair.

All of the baby animals will likely be birthed by Sunday. Fairgoers can come out anytime to see all of the animals.
