The new Timberwolves front office led by president of operations Tim Connelly continues to acquire talent ahead of training camp in late September. One of the latest additions is forward CJ Elleby, inked to an Exhibit-10 contract. He’ll have a chance to fight for a roster spot before the Opening Night roster is set.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a single-season, minimum-salary NBA deal that allows a team to convert the contract to a two-way deal as long as that change is made prior to the beginning of the regular season. Contracts like this typically involve a bonus of up to $50,000 if the player is waived.
We spoke with Elleby this week, getting to know the former Portland starter.

Elleby was the 46th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, and last season he averaged 5.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest in 58 games for the Trail Blazers. He started 28 of the Trail Blazers’ final 30 games.
He spent two seasons at Washington State, ending his college career with averages of 16.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. Elleby was named to the 2019-20 All-Pac-12 First Team and the 2018-19 Pac-12 All-Freshman Team.
