Two future Gophers football players improve going head-to-head daily at Prior Lake

Led by captains and future Gophers Greg Johnson and Martin Owusu, the Prior Lake high school football team has big expectations this year.

KSTP Sports attended Wednesday’s Lakers practice and spoke with Johnson and Owusu.

Owusu, a three-sport athlete who also excels in wrestling and track, plays defensive end for Prior Lake. He’s expected to transition to defensive tackle for the Gophers. He also had offers from Iowa State, Kansas State, California, and others.

Johnson is Prior Lake’s left tackle, but is expected to shift inside to guard for the Gophers. He also had an offer from Iowa State.

The beauty of having a stud left tackle and pass rusher on the same team is that they get to battle on the practice field daily.
