USCIS to revert to 2008 version of naturalization civics test next month
Monday, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announces it will revert to the 2008 version of the naturalization civics test beginning March 1.
USCIS just implemented a revised version of the test on Dec. 1, 2020, but the department determined the 2020 version may inadvertently create potential barriers to the naturalization process.
USCIS announces a revised naturalization civics test after Dec. 1
The 2008 version was developed over a multi-year period with input from over 150 organizations, USCIS said.
The test is administered to people who apply for U.S. citizenship through naturalization and is one of the statutory requirements for naturalizing.
According to USCIS, anyone who filed their application for naturalization from Dec. 1 to March 1 will have the option to take either the 2020 test or the 2008 version. The 2020 version will then be phased out on April 19, 2021.
