MPS to return all middle, high school students to in-person learning in April

Minneapolis Public Schools is planning to return all middle and high school students to in-person learning in April, according to a letter to families posted Wednesday.

According to the update, the district is still working on its in-person learning plan and is asking for feedback from families to determine their preferences.

The current plan states that high school students receiving special education services in Federal Setting III programs and at River Bend Educational Center, along with portions of Transition Plus and Harrison programming, will return to in-person learning on March 22.

On April 12, all ninth through 12th-graders and Transition Plus, as well as students receiving special education services and specialized programming, will return to in-person learning. Students in grades six through eight who receive special education services in Federal Setting III programs, and at River Bend and metro programs at Wilder, will also be able to return on this date.

Finally, all students in grades six through eight will return on April 19.

Families need to fill out a registration form to indicate their choice for learning for each child by March 9, according to MPS, or children will automatically be placed in in-person learning. MPS said it will also hold a virtual question-and-answer session on March 6. More information is available online.
