Man receives prison sentence for domestic assault charge, arson charge dismissed

Court records show a Willernie man will serve time behind bars after pleading guilty to a felony charge of domestic assault.

According to online records, 45-year-old Travis Emerfoll was sentenced Monday to serve 26 months (two years and two months) in the St. Cloud prison. He will also receive credit for 268 days he has already served.

As part of a plea deal, a charge of first-degree arson was dismissed.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS previously reported that Emerfoll was charged after what was described as a “violent” encounter with family members and a “lengthy” negotiation with SWAT team members last November.

According to a criminal complaint, deputies responded to a home on Wildwood Road on a report of a man threatening people with a knife.

Emerfoll has previous felony convictions, including domestic assault in 2018, second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon in 2017 and violating an order for protection in 2012.
