DNR reminds anglers deadlines to remove ice shelters are quickly approaching
Thursday, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reminded Minnesotan’s deadlines to remove ice shelters from area lakes are quickly approaching.
According to the DNR, the removal deadline in the southern two-thirds of the state is the end of the day Monday, March 1.
Anglers in that area are reminded that deadline is just one day after the close of the walleye fishing season.
Meanwhile, the DNR states in the northern one-third of the state—north of the east-west line formed by U.S. Highway 10, east along Highway 34 to Minnesota Highway 200, east along Highway 200 to U.S. Highway 2, and east along Highway 2 to the Minnesota-Wisconsin border—the removal deadline is the end of the day Monday, March 15.
The DNR is also asking those who are removing their ice shelters to do their part in keeping lakes clean by picking up trash, even if it doesn’t belong to them.
