St. Paul Regional Water Services lifts boil water advisory, says water ‘was and remains safe’

UPDATE 8/9/22: St. Paul Regional Water Services has lifted its boil water advisory.

Shortly after 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, the City of St. Paul said the advisory for St. Paul and Maplewood residents was a precaution, and lab tests revealed the water was – and remains – safe to drink.

Additionally, water pressure has returned to normal levels.

The Minnesota Department of Health approved the decision.

INITIAL REPORT 8/8/22: A boil water advisory has been issued for some St. Paul and Maplewood residents for the next 24 hours.

St. Paul Regional Water Services sent out the warning in case contamination entered the water distribution system following a loss of power Monday afternoon at the Beebe Road pumps in Maplewood.

In a press release, St. Paul Regional Water Services stated there is currently no evidence that contamination has entered the system at this time but affected areas are asked to boil water or use bottled water for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, etc., until the advisory has been lifted.

The affected areas include:

• In the north: Holloway Avenue East between Seventh Avenue East and Division Street.
• On the east: Geneva Avenue North between Conway Avenue East and Holloway Avenue East.
• In the south: Conway Avenue East between Carlton Street North and Geneva Avenue North.
• In the west: Ruth Street North between Seventh Avenue East and Larpenteur Avenue East; Winthrop Street North Between Larpenteur Avenue East and Hoyt Avenue East; Idaho Avenue East between Furness Parkway and Winthrop Street North; and McKnight Road North between Ivy Avenue East and Margaret Street.

St. Paul Regional Water Services state in their release that they are working to restore systems and are conducting water quality testing to ensure the water is safe to drink.
