Moorhead school temporarily locked down after nearby shooting; police investigating
A man was injured and a school was temporarily locked down after a shooting in Moorhead on Friday.
According to Moorhead Police, officers were called to the 1900 block of 41st Avenue South at 1:15 p.m. on a report of a shooting. There, officers found an 18-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen.
Police said the gun used in the shooting was found at the scene but the person responsible was gone.
The victim was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
Due to the shooting’s unknown nature, police set up a perimeter and attempted a K9 track. However, that was unsuccessful.
S.G. Reinertsen Elementary School, which is about five blocks west of where the shooting happened, temporarily went into a lockdown during the K9 search, police said.
Officers are still working to find the person responsible.
