Man in custody following standoff in Brooklyn Park

A man is in police custody after an hourslong standoff in Brooklyn Park that started early Monday morning.

Police say they responded to the 7600 block of James Avenue North around 6 a.m. for a person violating a court protection order.

When they arrived, authorities say the suspect had already barricaded himself inside the home and had access to firearms.

Crisis negotiators and Brooklyn Park Police SWAT were called to help, and after a few hours of negotiations, the suspected was taken into custody without incident.
