Minnetonka girls hockey rout Moorhead

The No. 5 Minnetonka Skippers girls hockey team defeated the Moorhead Spuds 8-0, Saturday afternoon at Pagel Ice Arena.

In the first period, Minnetonka scored when junior forward Alex Alvarez put a rebound in the net off a shot from freshman defenseman Lauren Goldsworthy, making it 1-0 Skippers with 11:46 remaining in the first period.
Three minutes later, senior defenseman Sammi Kittleson scored to put Minnetonka up 2-0. Then, just over two minutes later, Goldsworth found freshman forward Lindzi Avar, who found sophomore forward Grace Sedura on a breakaway and Sedura was able to score to make it 3-0 Minnetonka with 6:01 left in the first.
In the second period, Sedura scored again, this time off an assist from freshman forward Kendra Distad, to make it 4-0 Skippers with 4:17 remaining in the period. Minnetonka would strike again 30 seconds later when senior defenseman Hanna Baskin scored off an assist from senior defenseman Rory Guilday, making it a 5-0 Minnetonka lead with 3:47 left in the second period.
In the third period, Guilday scored a power-play goal to put Minnetonka up 6-0 with 12:28 left in the game.
Minnetonka would add two more goals to make it 8-0. And, senior goaltender Brynn DuLac got a shutout on senior night. Minnetonka improves to 9-2-2 on the year.
