Man hospitalized after crashing small plane near Prescott
An Inver Grove Heights man was hospitalized Friday after crashing a small aircraft in western Wisconsin.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office said it was called to a reported plane crash on State Highway 35 near County Road E just after 6:50 a.m.
There, officials learned that a 69-year-old man was operating a homemade, experimental Sonex aircraft when it lost engine power. The man tried to make an emergency landing but the plane hit multiple road signs before skidding across the highway and coming to rest in the west ditch.
The man was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with unspecified injuries.
The Federal Aviation Administration is now investigating the incident.
