Minneapolis council to host public hearing on community safety commissioner Tuesday
Minneapolis residents will have the chance to weigh in on the city’s community safety commissioner nominee Tuesday.
The Minneapolis City Council has scheduled a public hearing on Aug. 2 to consider Mayor Jacob Frey’s nomination of Cedric Alexander for the commissioner role.
In the newly created position, Alexander would oversee the city’s police, fire, 911, emergency management and neighborhood safety departments.
The hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Residents can pre-register online to speak, register in person or submit letters for the public record to cityclerk@minneapolismn.gov.
