3 arrested after shots hit Minneapolis’ 4th Precinct building, nearby homes; no one injured

Minneapolis police say three men are in custody after officers in the 4^th Precinct parking lot heard gunfire and bullets passing by them.

Police say after they heard the gunfire, they took cover and saw a vehicle leaving the area shortly after midnight Tuesday morning.

Officers followed and stopped the vehicle before arresting two men who ran from the vehicle.

Police then arrested a third male found hiding nearby. Officials didn’t immediately specify if the third male was also an adult.

The 4^th Precinct building was hit by gunfire, as were nearby homes. Police say one bullet went through the window of their building.

Officers say they took one gun from the men who ran from the vehicle and another gun from the male who was found hiding.

Police say “numerous” casings were found in an alley from Knox Avenue North to Logan Avenue North, south of Plymouth Avenue North.

Three were arrested, but police did not specify if any others were involved in what officials believe was an exchange of gunfire.

At this time, it is unknown if the police building was targeted, but the Minneapolis Police Department is investigating.

Police add no one was injured, and no officers fired their weapons.

MPD forensic scientists, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol also responded to the incident.
