Charges: Man who fatally shot woman in RV fought her boyfriend a week earlier

A Minneapolis man has been charged with murder in connection to the fatal shooting of a woman in an RV last month.

Police are searching for 34-year-old Laundelle Jackson, who is now charged with three counts of second-degree murder.

Minneapolis police found 42-year-old Taleen Rochelle Tanna unresponsive in an RV near North Girard and Plymouth avenues shortly before 10 a.m. on June 14. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and officers noted she’d been shot in the head and neck area.

Tanna’s boyfriend told police he was in the driver’s seat of the RV when a white Chevrolet Impala with rear-end damage drove up next to the RV and Jackson — who was in the front passenger’s seat of the car — started shooting at the RV, a criminal complaint states.

The man added that, a week earlier, Jackson had stabbed him. The complaint states police reviewed a prior case file and found that officers had found the two men unresponsive in a home around a week earlier, with Jackson having injuries to his face and Tanna’s boyfriend suffering from a stab wound to his chest. Jackson later told officers he and Tanna’s boyfriend were longtime acquaintances.

Investigators talked with a woman who’d heard about the fight between Jackson and Tanna’s boyfriend and said Jackson had discussed killing Tanna’s boyfriend a few days before the shooting, the complaint states. At around 8 a.m. the morning of the shooting, Jackson showed off a newly acquired handgun and said, “Now I can use this thing, huh?” the witness added.

Police talked with Jackson on July 7, but he denied shooting the victim, the complaint states, saying instead that it was someone else in the Impala.

As of Monday afternoon, Jackson wasn’t in custody, but a warrant for his arrest has been issued.
