Minneapolis man gets 17 years in prison for gas station, hotel robberies
A Minneapolis man has been sentenced to federal prison time for robbing a pair of gas stations and a hotel in 2020.
Thirty-year-old Keanu Dewone Ross was sentenced to more than 17 years (210 months) in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Ross robbed a Speedway gas station in Columbia Heights at gunpoint on Feb. 4, 2020. On Feb. 12, 2020, he did the same at a Speedway gas station in Fridley. Two days later, Ross went into a Super 8 Hotel in Brooklyn Center with another man, ordered the employee to the ground at gunpoint and robbed the business.
Police found Ross’ accomplice and his wallet in an SUV that got stuck in a snowbank at the hotel. Later that same day, Ross was stopped and detained by Minneapolis police officers, who also confiscated a semiautomatic pistol in his possession, prosecutors say.
At his sentencing, the judge ordered Ross to pay more than $1,850 in restitution to the businesses he robbed.
His accomplice, Antoinette Deniece Mae Dobyne, has not yet had a sentencing date scheduled.
