Police: South St. Paul incident resolved, 1 in custody
South St. Paul Police say a person was arrested after a situation near Ninth Avenue North and Third Street North on Tuesday.
According to South St. Paul police, officers went to the 300 block of Park Lane at around 10 a.m. on a report of an unwanted person at the site. After officers arrived, a 24-year-old Eagan man poured a flammable liquid on the ground around him and lit it on fire.
As officers worked to extinguish the flames, the man pulled out two knives and then ran away.
He was later found in a neighboring garage but refused to come out. Crisis response workers and SWAT members were called and, at around 12:45 p.m., the man surrendered. He was then taken to Dakota County Jail and booked for burglary, arson and assault, police say.
