Friday, Minneapolis Public Schools interim superintendent Rochelle Cox talked about her goals for the district during the upcoming year.
Cox said the school board has been working on a strategic plan over the past couple of months focusing on academic achievement, district and school climate, an effective teaching staff and the well-being of students and staff, and she will work to implement that plan.
“I’m looking forward to having 365 days to get this school district ready for their next superintendent,” Cox said.
Cox also said she has a “distributive leadership style” in which students, families, experts and staff collaborate to implement the best actions.
Cox has been with MPS since 1997 and has served in several leadership positions throughout her tenure. The board has said it plans to develop a process to choose the next superintendent.
