The Minnesota Wild said goodbye to its team dog Tuesday morning.
Celly has been with the organization for the past year after the team adopted him as a 5-month-old from Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue.
During the year, Celly — a shepherd/Catahoula/Labrador mix — was raised to become a future service dog. Now, he’s joining the Minnesota-based nonprofit Soldier’s 6, which provides specially trained K9s to honorably discharged veterans, police officers and firefighters.
Celly’s new owner is Allen Thill, a Minnesota state trooper and Purple Heart recipient.
This was the third year of the Wild’s Adopt-A-Dog program.
