2-vehicle crash near Valleyfair kills 19-year-old, alcohol use suspected

A 19-year-old died after a late-night crash Tuesday in Shakopee.

The Minnesota State Patrol’s crash report says the crash happened just before midnight at the intersection of County Road 101 and Valley Park Drive, next to Valleyfair.

According to the crash report, a 2014 Volkswagen Golf was turning from westbound County Road 101 to southbound Valley Park Drive when it was hit by an eastbound Mitsubishi Outlander.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 19-year-old from Eden Prairie, died from his injuries.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 26-year-old from Hopkins, suffered injuries not considered to be life-threatening but is suspected to have been drinking before the crash, the State Patrol’s report states.

Authorities say the victim’s name will be released Thursday afternoon.
