Rideshare driver robbed at gunpoint in Brooklyn Center
Police are investigating a report that a rideshare driver was robbed at gunpoint early Monday morning in Brooklyn Center.
According to Brooklyn Center police, officers were called to the area of 69th Avenue North and Brooklyn Boulevard at around 1:30 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery.
The victim told police he drives for a rideshare company and had picked up a male and female – whose ages weren’t immediately provided – in north Minneapolis. They then stopped at a gas station near 69th Avenue North and Brooklyn Boulevard. When they left, the victim told police the male put a gun to the victim’s head and demanded money.
Police say the victim initially struggled with the suspect over control of the vehicle but the victim eventually handed over his money, and the two suspects left the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
