Man pulled from Pelican Lake dies
A man died at a lake north of Brainerd Sunday, despite life-saving efforts.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the Pelican Lake public access area just before 3 p.m. after a man was pulled from the water and wasn’t breathing.
The sheriff’s office says deputies were told the man had been swimming near a pontoon in the south part of the lake, and that bystanders had started CPR.
When emergency personnel arrived, they continued life-saving measures but the man died at the scene.
He was identified by the sheriff’s office as 49-year-old-year-old Loren Michael Hinch, of Merrifield.
His death is still under investigation.
